In the second verse, the text here, referring to the seed mentioned earlier in the verse, is "But give it root in ev'ry heart." The phrase "ev'ry heart" is sung to notes of all different pitches (F G A), giving a sense of breadth.
Unless stated otherwise, my source for hymn texts and tunes is The Lutheran Service Book.

"Almighty God, Your Word Is Cast"
On Worship Anew last week, one of the hymns was "Almighty God, Your Word Is Cast," and I noticed a small feature in it. It's sung to the tune "St. Flavian." Here's the third musical phrase:

"The Temple Rang with Golden Coins"
The fifth verse of "The Temple Rang with Golden Coins" begins with the lines "Lord, help us all, with You, to yield / Whatever love demands," sung to these phrases from the tune "St. Flavian":
The three syllables of "whatever" are each sung to a different pitch (F Bb A), musically giving a sense of that breadth of possibility.

"St. Flavian"
Sorting through the various arrangements of this tune took some time. All of its appearances in The Lutheran Hymnal are the same (I used #22). Only one note differs between the two appearances in Lutheran Worship (what's an E in the alto part in #342 is a D in #502), but I suspect this difference is an error, and/so I didn't play through both. There are two different arrangements of the tune in The Lutheran Service Book. The arrangement that's #577 and #857 also appears as #885 in Hymnal Supplement 98, and I played from that notation while I had my copy of LSB open to the other arrangement (#787). (Confusingly, while LSB 787 and HS98 885 are different arrangements, the texts are the same: "The Temple Rang with Golden Coins").
Altogether then, my recording is one verse each from TLH 22, LW 502, LSB 787, HS98 885, and then the Amen cadence from TLH.

"Lord, Help Us Walk Your Servant Way"
Earlier this year, I was looking at "Lord, Help Us Walk Your Servant Way," and I noticed a small feature in it. The first two lines are "Lord, help us walk your servant way / Wherever love may lead," sung to these musical phrases (from the tune "St. Flavian"):
The three syllables of "Wherever" are each sung to a different pitch (F Bb A), and this gives a sense of that breadth. Additionally, two of these notes form an interval of a fourth (F to Bb), and this is the largest interval in the entire tune.

"St. Flavian" (TLH #22)
It's probably just coincidental, but it occurred to me that "St. Flavian" starts with the same four notes as "Tallis' Canon."
