"Jesus, Priceless Treasure"

Earlier this week, I finally got around to watching the opening service for Concordia University Wisconsin's 2026-2027 academic year.  One of the hymns was "Jesus, Priceless Treasure," and I noticed two instances where phrases are sung to notes of all different pitches, resulting in a sense of extent or entirety.

It appears first in the line "Earth and all its depths adore Him" near the end of the third verse, sung to this musical phrase (from the tune "Jesu, meine Freude"):

"All its depths" is sung to the notes A Bb C.

Later, it's in the line "Hence, all empty glory!" in the fourth verse, sung to this phrase:

"All empty glory" is sung to the notes G F Eb D C.  That this group spans a fairly large interval (a fifth) may further emphasize the effect.
