"Ach Gott und Herr" (TLH #317)

"Draw Us to Thee"

The tune I recorded for Sunday was "Ach Gott und Herr," used for "Draw Us to Thee." (I followed the arrangement from TLH #215, but the hymn is also LW #153 and LSB #701.)  I noticed a small connection between the text and the tune, specifically this phrase:

It's conjunct, going up and down the scale step-wise, so there's a musical sense of the walking mentioned in the first and third verses, which begin:  "Draw us to Thee, / For then shall we / Walk in Thy steps forever" and "Draw us to Thee; / Oh, grant that we / May walk the road to heaven!"
